WHY MODERN DEMOCRACY IS A BIG LIE

By : Muhammad Zaki Ramadhan

Diverse human characteristics make a variety of diverse thoughts as well. Accompanied by the development of the times that continue from time to time, starting long before the industrial revolution until now that has reached the era of revolution 4.0. in the pattern of development, when viewed from the aspect of politics and the system of government. History has recorded various systems of government and various ideologies that developed in the world. Examples of these systems and ideologies include monarchical, imperialist, socialist, communist, and one of the systems whose existence still survives and is widely embraced today is democracy.

Democracy, which is one of the classical systems that still survives to modern times, undergoes a variety of evolutions that vary greatly. Starting from the modernization of the democratic system, liberal democracy, guided democracy, Pancasila democracy in Indonesia, and western-style democracy.

Democracy itself is a system or form of government in which everyone has equal rights and is a system organized by the people for the people. And limited by laws and customs or norms that apply to keep democracy running on the right track. Democracy itself is also a system that is embraced by the most the country in the world. One country that is often known for its democracy is America. American democracy is known to be liberal with a state in the form of a federal constitutional republic. America is also known as the most active and critical country in voicing democracy. But if we look at the reality, is the democracy that is echoed that has a good influence on the people in their own country and all the democratic countries in the world or is it just nonsense?

If we look at the beginning of its development, democracy is indeed a brilliant system in running a country where everyone has equal rights in the eyes of the state and has equal rights in opinion.

But as the age of the essence of democracy develops today to day increasingly eroded into directional and irregular. This is also triggered by the increasingly rampant process of globalization that indirectly imposes equalization of aspects and values on all countries in the world. The existence of globalization on the influence of the existence of democracy becomes an important issue to understand. It aims to project the impact of globalization, whether it will bring development and progress or even will cause setbacks. And it can be recognized that globalization can bring some positive influences on the existence of democracy.

But if examined more deeply, the development that continues to occur in democracy is believed to only damage and hurt democracy itself. Massive development accompanied by the influence of globalization will only obscure people's view of the basic aspects of democracy as a system that the people for the people. This will of course open the stage for non-governmental organizations or private parties who will become more dominant.

This impact leads democracy towards an oligarchy system that only represents the aspirations of a group or group rather than aspirations and common interests.

The development of the democratic system will only plunge democracy itself in the wrong direction. This has an impact on many basic aspects of democracy that should be the main issue even neglected and damaged.

This makes democracy the greatest lie of the twenty-first century. The continued reshuffle of the body and contours of democracy becomes an opportunity in the event of power struggles, monopolies, and is too free. Freedom that should be solutive, organized and structured, and directed even becomes a freedom that exceeds the limit. This led to plato's understanding of democracy that stated that freedom in democracy would be contrary to the rights and obligations of others. Freedom is freedom without limits, without rules, and without laws.

The development of democracy today is also more directed to quantity than quality. In addition, our democracy today also gave birth to an uncompetipable government because everyone was allowed to take part. While not everyone can and does fit into the role that is carried out.

Modern democracy today can be said to be the government of the rich and capitalistic. This happens to require a lot of money. This led to many competent candidates who could not participate in the nomination. Instead, wealthy candidates can buy votes and master media and resources just for their own benefit. This will lead to the people getting a government that is pluktokrasi. Even morality is also a victim in the practice of modern democracy because of the vulnerability of money politics and other dirty practices that stand shoulder to shoulder to win political candidates or candidates carried. So what can people expect when they lead? Isn't this a great trick wrapped in a uniform called democracy?

Therefore, the need for a review of modern democracy is now in creating the true essence of democracy. And the need for checks and balances in implementing integrity in democracy itself so that the people's power is not neglected by the interests of the oligarchy's political elite. And it is also considered crucial in maintaining the stability of democracy and the peoplee so as not to fall into dictatorship.
